“These are my brother’s Knives.” - L. Holt

Montana Hammer Knives was developed in 2012 after the death of the makers brother Bridger W. Holt. On February 15, 2012, Bridger and Lincoln Holt rolled an old 1965 pickup in a ditch in Lincoln, Montana. Bridger was killed at the scene, and his brother Lincoln walked away without a scratch. Bridger served in the US Army First Calvary Division in Iraq, where he was coined the name “Montana Hammer”, which would stay with him for the rest of his life. In an effort to honor his brothers life, the art project Montana Hammer Knives was born.

L. Holt took up the craft of bladesmithing, a subject Bridger spoke of often in his indecision of ever purchasing his custom knife. His life ended before he had the chance to decide on a maker. "He never chose a particular maker, that’s how Bridger was, he did his homework and thought for a long time before he bought anything. I like to think I am fulfilling that for him.”

To date, Lincoln has completed over 2,100 knives, hand forging in his shop in North Havre, Montana.
